You may suspect you have a leak for various reasons. Your water bill might increase, you are filling up your pool every week or you notice visible damage either in your pool or around it.
Regular evaporation, weather conditions or general use (such as splashing) may cause water loss, but if you suspect something more it may be time to call us for an assessment.
Your pool is your personal investment and if a leak goes untreated it can become costly and possibly damage your (or your neighbour's) property. We will let you know exactly what is going on in your pool, spa or water feature systems.
When you suspect you have a leak or you are experiencing concerning water loss, please give us a call to go over your situation.
If we believe there is reason to test your system we will book an appointment for an on-site visit to begin investigating.
Assessments can take an hour to two to visually or spot check the pool. After an hour we will bring our recommendations to you for a service plan, an estimated time or quote to continue testing and locate your leak if requested.
Depending on which area of your pool is affected (plumbing, structural, liner, accessories, mechanical room) it can take more or less time to test these systems, including pressure testing and dye testing. Some issues can be confirmed quickly but others will require systemic and elimination of causes.
We will only work for the time approved for your budget, and ensure you are informed about your service.
When we locate the leak and source of the issue, we advise you of the details and offer a repair solution, with a quote to repair if requested.
We repair one issue at a time due to the nature and size of leaks. Once isolated a damaged section, we re-test the remaining part of the system to the mechanical room and ensure it is operating optimally. Should there be any more issues to the initial leak we will advise of any additional repair recommendations to confirm how you wish to proceed.
You are in charge of your repair and how much you wish to invest in your pool with our best advice. If you have any questions or hesitations about the process we are here to offer our expertise and ensure you are happy with the outcome.
We provide leak detection services for the Lower Mainland often including Vancouver, Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission.
There are a few at home troubleshooting methods to test if/where your leak is located. You may want to try a bucket test, a meter test, or a dye test.
If the test determines you are losing water: you likely have a leak. If the water level continues to drop after plugging the pool plumbing, your leak may be in the pools shell or liner. If your water level remains the same, it may be in your equipment or plumbing.
Leaks can be intermittent, being weather or condition dependent. You may not notice constant loss, and often particles can plug off small leaks temporarily (causing confusion).
We ask that all pools are clear and at normal operating levels if possible.
To save diagnostic hours we always recommend a bucket test be done prior to our arrival.
1. Fill to normal operating levels and mark while the pool is running
2. Record any loss at 24 hours
3. Top back up, turning the pool off and then monitor for another 24 hours
4. Record the levels (if any loss has occured) again at 48 hours
When you have tried everything to prevent water from disappearing, we will be able to help.
Depending on the location and cause of your leak, the repair will be quoted with a summary of the diagnostic conclusion and the recommendations.
For underground issues such as a break within a failed line or disconnections, exposing the line and replacing the damaged section is required. We aim to be as non-invasive as possible, and opt for most cost effective repair solution if possible, with safety and system longevity the priority.
For liner issues, the age and condition of your liner must be considered. Older liners become brittle, difficult to repair and at risk or further damage. We will let you know if we believe it is most cost effective to patch, or plan for replacement.
We can recommend temporary solutions such as polymer or epoxy to meet your service goals.
If you have any questions about your pool and the services we recommend, including our pool diagnostics and spa repair services, our in-ground pool specialists are here to assist you.
